How did I miss this? Back in October, David Miller pointed out a link to the book of Jonah in animated cartoon format. It includes the full Hebrew text with audio–and you can select a translation to show at the bottom of the page from a variety of options, including Deutsch!
My Hebrew class will be starting Jonah tomorrow. I found this just in time.

Hi, there,
I’m Kenneth Kim.
I am interested in learning theological German.
Would you advise some references?
I live in Poway, San Diego County, California. I am now searching some schools to get German class in summer or fall.
Let me have your response.
Thanks
Hi Kenneth,
I’m glad you are interested. I don’t know what’s available in San Diego County, but any beginner’s class would be good. There a lot of good teachers teaching in community colleges. My first teacher, Frau Bridges, was terrific.
After you’ve learned some of the basics of nouns and verbs, start reading some of the selections here. Look under “Categories” to the right. You might try starting with some of the “Quotes.” Or you might try some of the Bonhoeffer Posts, or the Interview with Jürgen Moltmann. The Post on “Life in Prison” (http://ergebung.wordpress.com/2007/10/23/3b-life-in-prison-daily-routine/) seems to be pretty popular, and is a good place to start.
Click on the pages “Reference” and “Reviews and Recommendations” for some other tips on getting started.
Mark,
I see that Frau Bridges was your beginning teacher of German. Was that at KCCCC? She was mine as well – in 1979-81.
Do you know what has happened to her?
Thanks,
Linda
Yes it was KCKCC. I think the year I took German I was 1981. I don’t know what became of her. I will try and contact KCKCC and see if they know anything about her.
My wife took her Philosophy and Logic classes from her a few years earlier, must have been around 1973 and 74.
We should have a Frau Bridges reunion!
