Hurra, Hurra, Hurra, Hoch, Vivat und Halleluja! Ich hab einen Brief von meinem Dietrich bekommen und bin sehr glücklich darüber.
Mein liebster Dietrich, was kannst Du für schöne Briefe schreiben!
My first experience with Amazon.de was a good one. My new edition of Widerstand und Ergebung along with Brautbriefe Zelle 92 both arrived yesterday. Eventually I will get around to posting a few of the letters exchanged between Bonhoeffer and his fiancee Maria (the above is an excerpt). First I will finish the Moltmann interview, and then get back to Bonhoeffer’s letters to Bethge.
I have also had a good experience with amazon.de when I wanted a copy of Reinhard Nordsieck’s Das Thomas-Evangelium: Einleitung: Zur Frage des historischen Jesu. Apart from having to make sure that I read everything very carefully before I said Ja oder Nein, it was all pretty painless and they delivered at Amazon’s usual speed.
When I made my final click, I sort of held my breath and hoped I hadn’t taken out a second mortgage on my house, or confessed to high treason; but it turned out alright. The shipping (Versandkosten) was a little steep at 14 Euros for two small paperbacks, but the charge was clearly indicated on the form before I finalized the order.
Hey, I’m planning to make it to the SBL next year in Boston, and since they have Maria’s letters at Harvard, maybe we can arrange for a special viewing of them. What do you think?
Hmm. I can’t remember how much I paid for shipping, but I’m used to paying large shipping costs from the other side of the world and I wanted Nordsieck’s book for my thesis and getting an Australian bookshop to order it in for me would have been slower and more expensive.
A special viewing of Maria’s letters would be interesting, but I’m not going to be in Boston. I am hoping to make it to SBL international in Auckland NZ next year – much cheaper than flying to the US. 🙂
