[Lieber Eberhard]

[typo on Breif in the letter]
Dear Eberhard
The need, for me to talk with you on a quiet Sunday afternoon, is so great, and the thought, that such a letter could perhaps also pass a lonely hour in conversation with you, so tempting, that I, without knowing whether, how or where these lines reach you, want to write to you… How and where may we both celebrate Christmas this time?
Sehr schön! Thanks for kicking off the translation and for helping with the proofreading; I will correct the misspelling of Brief.
The only correction of your translation is vor=before; so Sonntagvormittag is Sunday forenoon, i.e. morning.
